You can like posts to share the love. I tried just plugging in the jump drive before setup and pressing F6 at the appropriate time to try installing the drivers I placed on the jump drive, but that did not work. When you run it, click “List” at the top and one of the choices will be to “Save list to file”. XP just showed the jump drive as a partition.
You could try install a Linux ddv9700 instead of XP, and see if it will get you going. Do you already have an account?

It gives me no options for the hard drive whatsoever. Now the Quick Launch buttons make sounds and seem operative, but the volume is still fixed and non-adjustable. Here’s the info for Everest: Thanks for the drivers you’ve added, I’ll try them this morning. Like dv i dont have option to disable native SATA support in my system. From the results so far, it looks like this HP laptop is one that likely won’t ever be completely correct, but it runs really well with XP on it so the minor flaws aren’t that big a deal.
So don’t believe these links really help in that regard unless I am missing something??? You can remove an access panel on the bottom of the notebook should be one or two really small philips screws and look at the card, which will say. I was however able to load XP by placing the SATA drivers on a floppy and attaching an external floppy drive, using the f6 option on cd loading I contacted Gateway about XP drivers for my laptop and they basically don’t me not to hold my breath.
